Not long after the death of Eric Duncan, the 42-year-old Liberian who introduced the virus to US, a health worker who assisted in treating the Liberian at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas, has tested positive to the virus.
According to an official statement released by Dallas State Health
officials, it has been confirmed that the Ebola Deadly Virus, EVD, has
transmitted to the health worker who remains anonymous.
Texas health commissioner Dr. David Lakey said:
"We knew a second case could be a reality, and we have been preparing for this possibility. We are broadening our team in Dallas and working with extreme diligence to prevent further spread.”The infected health worker has since Friday night, October 10th, been isolated.
